Import Services
Importing of animals into Singapore can be a real hassle if you are unfamiliar with the local regulations. THE PET HOTEL is the ONLY company that can offer a "ONE-STOP, HASSLE FREE" service for clients who wish to relocate their pets from overseas destinations into Singapore because, with effective from 15th February 2002, THE PET HOTEL is the managing operator for Singapore's only quarantine station, and hence, we are able to offer a complete "door to door" service efficiently.

Important prerequisites for animals being imported into Singapore.

Health Certificate
An original certificate, issued by a private or government Veterinarian, stating "the pet is healthy and free from any contagious or infectious disease at the time of inspection" is required for all pet/s entering Singapore. All dogs and cats need to be detick/deflea and deworm prior to their quarantine in JAQS. These treatments can be done at least 2 days but not more than 10 days prior to export and must be certify on the health certificate. Please note that the date of certification must be within 7 days from the date of entry into Singapore.

 

Vaccination Card
All dogs arriving into Singapore must be vaccinated against Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvo Virus. Cats must be vaccinated against Cat Flu (Feline calicivirus, Feline viral rhinotracheitis, Chlamydia psittaci) and Cat enteritis (or Feline Panleukopaenia/ Felilne parvovirus). All these, vaccinations have to be more than 2 weeks but less than 1 year prior to entry into Singapore.

 

Microchip
From September 2004, all imported dogs and cats must be identified with an ISO-compatible microchip. Dogs/cats without or with unreadable microchips may be deported or detained for any necessary action. This would be at the discretion of the Director-General, Agri-food & Veterinary Services. The importer shall bear the cost of the deportation, detention, and implantation of microchip, if necessary.

Import Permit and Reservation of Quarantine Space
An Application for Permit to Import Animals / Birds as Personal Pets must be completed and forwarded to the Agri-food and Veterinary Authority. On top of that, an Application & Acceptance for Animal Quarantine Space (AA Form) must be completed and sent to the Regulatory Services Branch.

Dogs and cats from Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Ireland are exempt from quarantine.

Our import handling services & charges are as follows:

** Import permit - AVA
** Application for import permit/reservation for quarantine space at AVA
** Cargo Clearance upon pet's arrival
** Custom Clearance
** Transfer of pet from cargo terminal to CAPQS (Holding Area for Pets)
   
(a) For the first pet in a shipment $300.00
(b) For each additional pet in the same shipment - in addition to (a) $100.00
(c) For airport clearance outside office hour Mondays to Fridays ; 9.00 am to 6.00 pm - in addition to (a) $100.00
(d) For airport clearance on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays - in addition to (a) $100.00

*The Pet Hotel will do its best to get the pet/s cleared during the designated time, in the event that the pet/s was unable to be cleared in time, The Pet Hotel cannot be held responsible. Food and water would be given to the pet/s.

Should your pet be traveling in either as excess baggage or as cargo, we strongly advice you to avoid arriving on:

Saturdays after 10.00am
As the Changi Airport Animal & Plant Quarantine Station (CAPQS), operated by Agri-food & Veterinary Authority (AVA), ceases operation at 12.30pm sharp, any pet that cannot be cleared by then will be confined in its cage until the following afternoon.

Sundays
As the CAPQS operation hours are from 1pm to 4pm on Sundays, clearance must be done during this time frame. Any delay will lead to pets' confinement in their cage till the next morning

Eve of Public Holidays & Public Holidays
As above, short operation hours by the CAPQS may cause cage confinement till the next working day

Changi Plant and Animal Quarantine Station (CAPQ) operating hours:

Mondays to Fridays 8.30 am - 11pm
Saturdays 8.30 am - 1pm
6.00pm - 11pm
Sundays 1pm - 6pm
Public Holidays closed

Note: Pet/s arriving outside of CAPQ operating hours cannot be claim from airline and as such, will remain in their cage/s.

What should you do when your pet arrive Singapore ?

As excess baggage :
Being appointed by you as your agent, we will inform the airline's lost & found counter about your arrival. You should report to the lost & found counter immediately after clearing yourself with the Immigration. It is necessary to supply the counter staff a copy of the Import Permit ( which we will fax you after we obtained it ). There will be a "passover" form for you to sign, where you are required to fill up your local address and telephone numbers. "DO NOT" hand the original documents (Health Certificate and Vaccination Records) to the counter staff.

Proceed on to collect your baggages and meet our assigned staff who will be carrying a placard with your name on it after clearing the Customs Hall. Hand all original documents to our staff and he will proceed on with the necessary clearance.

As cargo :
Nothing !! Just make sure that the pet/s is consign to us. The cargo will inform us about the flight details and we will follow up with the necessary clearance. Be sure that the necessary original documents accompanies the shipment.

Pet arriving as Cargo must indicate on Airwaybill( as Consignee) : -

We need the Airwaybill number, Flight number and date of arrival at least 3 working days prior to entry of pet/s so as to track and ensure prompt clearance.

By road :
Owners who wish to import their pets to Singapore by road from Malaysia is strongly advised to use the Tuas Checkpoint. Upon arrival at the checkpoint, follow the lorry lane which will lead you to the cargo terminal. The AVA inspection office is at building A4. Our appointed staff will be there with the AVA Officer waiting for you. Hand all original documents to our staff and he will proceed on with the clearance. Please ensure that your pets are in the travelling crate while travelling.
